I rearranged and moved my C64 setup. I now have my system, disk drive, tape player, TV/monitor, and a laptop with a parallel port (for transferring .D64) all in one place. I had an empty desk so now it is my commodore base of operations! I am still anxiously awaiting my XA1541 adapter! I am guessing it will come on Friday since the mail does not run on Thanksgiving. Have a safe and fun Thanksgiving!

XA1541 Adapter
*UPDATE*- I got the XA1541 adapter in the mail today! It came a day late because of Thanksgiving. I hooked it up to an old Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 that used to run Windows NT 4.0. Someone awhile back before I got it installed XP SP3 on it. It was a nightmare installing all the software and copying it everywhere to get the transfer going! I ended up using CMBXfer instead of Star Commander. I had a problem with my floppy disk (3 1/2") and DOS so I searched for a GUI program. I also had to install OpenCBM and WinVice and then copy c1541.EXE from WinVice and all the CBMXfer files into the .EXE directory in the OpenCBM folder. It took forever on that laptop! I just finished copying my first disk onto my laptop by making the entire disk a .D64 image. For anyone running XP who wants to transfer disks, use CBMXfer with an XA1541 adapter from NKC Electronics, but that's just my opinion on the process. If you are not sure which cable to use, there are comparison charts on the web but the XA1541 works with just about any kind of computer, program, or parallel port. Chances are, if the transfer won't work with the XA1541, it won't work at all. The XA1541 also works with any kind of Commodore drive (1541, 1571, 1581, 1541-II...) not just 1541 drives. Well, I'm off to play some games I just copied. Good luck with the process.

XA1541 transfer adapter is on its way! I am going to catalog my software library into my laptop. Check out the video on the Video Page. I will probably use Star Commander on MS-DOS to transfer them.

Commodore Users Group Meeting
Looking forward to my first local Commodore/IBM computer meeting!

The meeting went well. I became a member of my local group and got a lot of free C64 software! Looking forward to the Christmas party next month!
